Taiwanese food, on the one hand is very Chinese but it has a strong influence from the Japanese, due to the period when Taiwan was occupied by Japan. There are many Japanese food restaurants. The Night markets are a popular place where people buy their food from the many stalls.

 

Hakka Cuisine is mainly served in the Hsinchu County. Famous Hakka dishes include fried pork sausages with ginger, stir-fried dishes and sticky rice dumplings with ginger and dried radish peels.

 

Aboriginal Food boasts a unique, rustic flavor and freshness with famous recipes like roasted boar meat, bamboo partridge, rice cooked in bamboo tubes, sticky rice cake (hand made from millett and comes in different flavours) fried wild herbs and vegetables, as well as fine homebrewed millet liquor.
